If you are looking for a breath of fresh air, Courtown Woods is a fantastic place to visit with all the family. With 25 hectares of mature woodlands, there are 4 marked paths which are great for kids to go off and explore! The trails are part of the Wexford Walking Trails and date back to 1870. The beach is metres away from the woodland walk which you can join onto for a change of scenery.

Just a 30-minute drive from Newtown Park Hotel, Hook Lighthouse is a fantastic family-friendly destination that’s packed with charm, history, and fresh sea air. Located on the scenic Hook Peninsula, it’s one of the world’s oldest operational lighthouses, and it’s completely free to visit! Kids will love exploring the grounds, spotting ships on the horizon, and running along the rugged coastline.
For an added adventure, you can take a guided tour inside the lighthouse (available for a small fee), where little ones can climb the spiral stairs, hear stories from long ago, and enjoy incredible views from the top.
The surrounding cliff walk is perfect for a gentle family stroll and leads to the nearby fishing village of Slade, great for a picnic stop or a bit of exploring. If your family enjoys cycling, the coastal trail is ideal for bikes too so feel free to bring them along.
Keep your eyes peeled as you walk, the area is beaming with wildlife, and with a bit of luck, you might even spot seals, dolphins, or whales off the coast.
